7th ANNUAL INTERMEDIATE SKILLS CHALLENGE: Mout Pearl Intermediate is proud to host the 7th Annual Intermediate Skills Challange on Saturday January 30th, 2010. This Invitational Event, hosted in partnership with the Eastern School District, will offer technology and employability competitions/workshops in twelve different areas such as: Information Technology, Web Page Design, Prepared Speech, Computer Animation, TV/Video Production and Robotics for students in grades 7-9.
Included with the competitions will be hands-on trade demonstrations. This challange is very unique to our province because it is the only intermediate skills competition offered in Canada. Intermediate students get the opportunity to compete in different areas against other schools while at the same time raising awareness of skilled trades in our province. The competition begins at 9 am and runs all day until closing cermmonies at 5 pm.
We currently have 13 students competing in 8 differnent catagories. Daniel Oram and Jack Husk will put their talents together in the 2D Computer Animation competition, Abbey Newman tests her talents in Graphic Design, Nathaniel Newhook weaves his web skills in Website Development, Shane Pretty shows off his knowledge of ceramic tiles in Job Skills Demostrations, Steven Hicks highlights his talent in IT Software Applications, Kenneth Butler, Eric O'Driscoll, Tyler Nutall and Brad Holmes join forces to take top spot in the IT PC Scavenger Hunt competition, Simeon Mercer and Mark Rice team-up to show that they are the best in TV Video Production and finally Roland Penney will represent us in the Prepared Speech catagory.
